Planting trees whose shade I will never sit under …
A Greek Proverb encourages us that a society grows stronger when people plant trees whose shade they will never sit beneath. To that end, as the founder and CEO of the Indie Business Network, I’m excited to announce a new mentoring program designed specifically for black makers and handmade entrepreneurs.
Purpose of the Mentoring Group
While I have been an entrepreneur mentor for two decades, the impetus for this particular group is that black lives matter.
The overarching purpose of this program will be to help black makers and handmade entrepreneurs create and begin to execute a stable plan for a fun, profitable, and successful holiday season. In addition to honing niches and solidifying brands, we will such things as streamlining product production, increasing efficiencies, lowering costs, boosting repeat sales, and building brand community.
Because every strong business needs a strong leader, we will invest a significant amount of time on leadership and personal development. We’ll explore such things as integrating our business and life missions, establishing work/life priorities, strengthening leadership skills, and building solid physical and online networks.
Accountability is always baked into my mentoring style, and if that does not appeal to you, this is not the mentoring program for you. From @donnamaria: A new mentoring program for black makers and handmade entrepreneurs. #blacklivesmatter #blm Apply here –> Click To Tweet
I do not have all the answers …
I would be remiss if I left you with the impression that I have this business thing all figured out. I don’t.
I do not have all the answers. I continue to struggle. I often try new things that don’t work out. (I don’t usually tell you about those things …) I frequently feel inadequate and unsure. I sometimes wonder how my business has lasted two full decades.
Having said all of that, I have been at this long enough to have learned a few things of value, and I want to share them with others in an intimate environment that is uniquely vulnerable, authentic, and transparent.
Deadline to apply
The deadline for applications is Friday, June 12, 2020. This is a firm date so apply quickly if you would like to be considered.
